Luree Waltz, Scranton, joined her husband, Edwin, in Heaven after 10 long years. She passed away Thursday, Feb. 19th at Hospice of the Sacred Heart with her family by her side.
Luree was born in Scranton and was the only child of the late Walter and Ruth Wolff Capple and was a graduate of Technical High School in 1958. Prior to her retirement, Luree was the Accounting Officer at Penn Security Bank. She was a dedicated member of the St Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church and loved her community. For as long as she was able, she helped run and facilitate the yearly 'Kid's Shopping for Kids' by Thrivent in Northeastern PA, and always made sure to sponsor a few angels on the giving tree as well. Luree also loved to travel with her husband and take photos of their adventures and many new friends. Every trip, they came home with at least three rolls of film to be developed. When she wasn't traveling, she could be found doting on her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Cathy Lynne Rudat and husband, Ken, Dunmore, Ruth Audrey Whitehouse, Scranton; sister-in-law Debra Yeager and husband, Robert, Greentown, brother-in-law David Waltz and wife, Margrit, Moscow; grandchildren, Rebecca LaRue and husband, Todd, Scranton, Ashley Whitehouse, Scranton, Teresa Whitehouse, Scranton, Edwin Diehl, Scranton; and great-granddaughter Audrey LaRue, Scranton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin R. Waltz; sister-in-law Sharon Waltz Garvey; and her parents, Walter and Ruth Wolff Capple.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11am in the St Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1000 Taylor Ave Scranton 18510
Friends May call Wednesday morning from 10am until time of service at St Peter's.
Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park in Elmhurst.
