Margaret "Margi" Carol
Curtin Marshall
January 10, 1946 – June 5, 2026
Margaret "Margi" Carol Curtin Marshall, 80, died peacefully on June 5, 2026, surrounded by family and friends. She was the daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Vincent T. Curtin and a lifelong resident of Scranton. Margi was a respected clinical social worker and a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Margi loved gardening and sewing, delighting in making clothing for her children and grandchildren. She was especially renowned for her handcrafted Halloween costumes. She was also a devoted rescuer of animals.
She had a huge heart for those in need and a curiosity and appreciation for other cultures. She hosted countless international exchange students and worked with immigrant families to secure clothing, housing, and jobs. If Margi saw anyone in need, she stopped to get to know them and find out how she could help. She also loved mentoring social work students.
As one friend wrote, "If she wasn't enjoying the company of her children, sitting at her sewing machine, whipping up a gourmet feast or helping some lost soul find their way, then she wasn't living the life that gave her meaning and pleasure."
Margi was predeceased by her sister, Catherine Constance DePasquale, brother, Dr. Charles Curtin, and grandson Rumsey Hall. She is survived by her husband, Gary. Sister, Sarah DeVincentis. Children: Kim Grayson (Tonio) of Petaluma CA, Vincent Marshall of Scranton PA, Kate Hall (Minor) of Westborough MA, Rebecca Ferris (Jason) of Philadelphia PA, and William Marshall (Ruma) of Portland Oregon. Grandchildren: Linnea, TJ, Josh, Clare, Minor, Sam, Lucian, Margaret, and great-grandson, Rio.
The family would like to thank Vivi Thammavongsa for her love and care.
A private family memorial will be held to honor Margi's life. Donations in memory of Margi Marshall can be made to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter 967 Griffin Pond Rd. Clarks Summit, PA. 18411 or by visiting their website at www.griffinpondanimalshelter.com.
