Mark E. Durdach

Mark E. Durdach, 69, of Greentown, peacefully entered into eternal life while surrounded by his children on Monday, August 31 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA.

Born in Scranton, PA, he was the son of the late Edward and Mary Durdach. He was a graduate of Dunmore High School and the Pennsylvania State University. He was a student athlete in high school, playing both baseball and football. In 1973, he and the Dunmore Bucks football team won the PA State Championship. Mark worked in agriculture, construction, and eventually education, ultimately retiring as a teacher. Prior to retirement, Mark taught in the Scranton School District, Delaware Valley School District, and Western Wayne School District. He was a member of the St. Thomas More / St. Mary's Parish Community. Mark was an incredibly talented carpenter and woodworker. He had a gift for building beautiful things with wood, from furniture to cabinetry to homes and kitchens. One of his proudest achievements was the house he built on Lake Wallenpaupack. 

Mark was also an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, animals, and nature. He was a singer and a musician, and he had a passion for music. He loved classic Western movies, Frank Sinatra, the smell of sawdust, and hunting wild game. At heart, Mark was a true cowboy.

Mark was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, and he practiced a strong Roman Catholic faith. Most of all, Mark was a very gentle and loving father and he adored his four children with all his heart.

Surviving are his daughters Dariana Colebrook and her husband Andrew, Serena Durdach and her fiancé Ryan King, of Lake Ariel; sons Mark J. Durdach and his wife Alexandra of West Norriton, PA, and Luke Durdach of Lake Ariel; sisters Natalie Hiller and her husband John of Harleysville, PA, and Paula Durdach and her husband Steve Billingsley of Shepherdsville, KY; a brother Jeffrey Durdach of Dunmore; the mother of his children Mary Richardson of Lake Ariel; nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 9th at 9:30am in St. Thomas More Church, 105 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel.

Friends may call Tuesday, September 8th from 4:00 - 7:00pm in the James Wilson Funeral Home, 143 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel.

If you plan on attending the Funeral, all are asked to go directly to the church. Interment, St. Mary's Cemetery, Ledgedale.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mark's memory may be made to St. Thomas More Parish, 105 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel, Pa 18436
