Mark A. Michalek

Mark A. Michalek, 71, of Lake Ariel, passed away at home on Sunday morning. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years, Mary "Marie" Michalek, who passed in 2021.

Born in Scranton, Mark was the son of the late Anthony and Adeline Roberto-Michalek. A graduate of Dunmore High School, Class of 1971, he went on to dedicate many years of service to GNB/Exide Battery and later the Walmart Distribution Center before retiring. Mark was a faithful member of the St. Thomas More / St. Mary's Parish Community and a proud United States Army Veteran.

Mark was known for his love of the outdoors-an avid fisherman, hunter, and boating enthusiast. His generous spirit and fun-loving nature made him a cherished friend to many. Whether casting a line with an old buddy, enjoying time with family, or more recently singing karaoke with his companion Alberta Kizer Eck and their circle of friends, Mark found joy in the simple pleasures of life and the company of those he loved.

He is survived by his daughter Shannon Spak and her husband Stephen of South Abington Township; his sister Marlene Gianzanti and her husband Frank of South Abington Township; his brother Matthew Michalek and his wife Christina of Orefield, PA; and several nieces and nephews.

Mark was preceded in death by his brother Michael Michalek and infant daughter Mary.

Private cremation was held at the Lake Region Crematory at the James Wilson Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 12th at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas More Church, 105 Gravity Rd., Lake Ariel. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass. Private inurnment will follow at Dunmore Cemetery, Dunmore.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of James Wilson Funeral Home, Lake Ariel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Weinberg Northeast Regional Food Bank or to a charity of the donor's choice in Mark's memory.
