Michael "Mike" Patrick McLain

Michael Patrick McLain, 69, of Hamlin, passed away on Tuesday, April 7th at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton, following a courageous battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. His wife of 40 years is the former Tammi Malcolm. 

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Harold and Marguerite Swartz - McLain. He was a graduate of North Pocono High School Class of 1976. Prior to his illness, Mike was employed by Keystone Sanitary Landfill in Dunmore. 

Mike told good stories that always ended in laughter. He had many health struggles in his short life but he faced all of them with a positive attitude. Mike was a fighter to his last breath.

Also surviving are his daughter Tara Durkin and her husband Robert of Old Forge; sister Judy Palmer and her husband Donald of Moscow; brothers William McLain and his companion Sharon Carroll of Lake Ariel and Tim McLain and his wife Elaine of Moscow; sister-in-law Vanessa McLain of Moscow; grandchildren Kenzie and Rylee Durkin; many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his sister Sue Ellen McLain; brother James McLain; sister-in-law Marion McLain. 

Private cremation took place at the Lake Region Crematory in the James Wilson Funeral Home. 

A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, April 18th at 12:00PM in the James Wilson Funeral Home, 143 Gravity Road, Lake Ariel. 

Friends may call from 11:00AM until the time of the service. 

Private Inurnment, Maplewood Evangelical Cemetery, Maplewood. 

Abiding by Mike's wishes, no flowers will be accepted. Instead, memorial contributions should be made to: Dessin Animal Shelter, 138 Miller Dr. Honesdale, Pa 18431.
