Olive Moore

Olive Moore, 101, passed away on June 3, 2025, in Jupiter, FL. She was the widow of Morton Moore.

Olive was born in Honesdale to the Elma and Wilfred Donovan family in 1923 at the family farmhouse itself. Olive attended the Hoadley's one room schoolhouse Cherry Ridge, and after high school Olive completed course study with the Honesdale branch of the Scranton Business Institute, a part of the University of Scranton at that time. She was a lifelong, devoted and faithful member of the Central United Methodist Church.

Olive loved her family. Even though she spent her last years in Florida, she dearly missed her Pennsylvania family and church. Olive was especially proud of her two grandchildren Michelle and Victoria and spoke of them often with great love and admiration. Olive loved beautiful flowers. Her flowers seemed incredibly happy and many would agree she had a green thumb. Olive loved playing scrabble and earned the unofficial in-house title of scrabble queen. That usually led to her doing the winner's dance shuffle with Laurie. She finished her working career at the Dean Ferris Florist, Peekskill, N.Y. before retiring back to beloved Honesdale.

Olive loved to share a little ice cream or a piece of chocolate together with you. And considering her 101 years, there may be untold benefits in those two foods.

Olive was a wonderful homemaker wife and mother and partnered with her husband Morton Moore raising their two children. She will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to have known her.

Olive is survived by her son Tom and his wife Laurie with whom she resided; her daughter her beloved granddaughters Michelle and Victoria

Funeral services will be held Saturday June 14, 2025 at 11am in the James Wilson Funeral Home 143 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel.

Friends may call Saturday morning from 10am until the time of the service.
