Richard Yarasavich, affectionately known as “Shaker” passed away at his son’s home on Friday in Richard’s beloved Lake Ariel.

Richard was born in Scranton in 1950 and was the son of the late  Edward Walter Yarasavich (USA)and Lillian C. Yarasavich née Novack, both of Scranton.

Richard served in the United States Navy and USN Reserves from 1970 through 1976. After which he bought his home in the Lake Ariel community which he loved to raise his kids. He then served with the USA National Guard. He worked at Tobyhanna Army Depot from where he retired because of heart disease.

Surviving are Richard’s children Rachel V. Yarivas née Yarasavich and her wife Rachel of Norfolk, VA, Justine Bakshi née Yarasavich and her husband Moneesh of Chestnut Ridge, NY, and Richard Edward Yarasavich, Jr. of Lake Ariel; Richard’s sister and brother Theresa C. Yarasavich of Scranton, Edward J. Yarasavich, USN(RET) and his wife Penny of Norfolk, VA; Richard’s nieces Lisa Bazur, Lori Bazur, Carolyn Collins née Bazur, Cynthia Bazur all of Scranton and Nicole Lee Derby – Moore and her husband Mark of Newport News, VA; Richard’s uncle John A. Novack, USA(RET) and his wife Margaret; Richard’s aunt Helen Rugletic née Sheruc of Cherry Hill, NJ and Richard’s grand nephews and nieces, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his brother Christopher Yarasavich and his sister Carol Ann Bazur née Yarasavich.

Friends may call Wednesday April 23rd from 4:00 to 7:00 in the James Wilson Funeral Home 143 Gravity Road Lake Ariel.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday April 24th at 10am in St. Thomas More Church 105 Gravity Road Lake Ariel.

Internment, Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, Scranton.
