Rita Mae Evans, RN, 92, Clarks Summit, passed away Monday morning in the Abington Manor after an illness. She was the widow of David X. Evans, Sr.

Rita was born in 1933 in Scranton, and she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Mae Baraskes Novitskas. She was educated in Scranton schools and went on to graduate from the Temple School of Nursing where she became a registered nurse. She worked as a nurse in Lancaster, Philadelphia and Scranton. Her primary employment was at the St. Christopher's Children's Hospital in Philadelphia. She was a woman of deep faith and was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Clarks Summit.

Rita is survived by her several cousins including Sally Zemek and her husband, Rev. Dr. Louis, of Belmont, Miss.; Carol Thomas and her husband, James; and Ann Kochis all of Scranton, Tom Wheeler and his wife, Bridget, of Fleetville.

She was also preceded in death by her beloved son David X. Evans, Jr.; cousin in law Larry Kochis.

A Memorial service will be held Monday September 8th at 11am in the Vanston & James Funeral Home 1401 Ash St. Scranton Pa.

Friends may call Monday morning from 10am until the time of the service.

Interment, private, Cathedral Cemetery.
