Robert A. Smith, 84, of Taylor, passed away on Monday, July 20th at Elan Skilled Nursing following an illness. He is survived by his wife of 64 years the former Dolores Tugend.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Leslie and Dollie Phillips - Smith. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Clarks Summit and the former St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Scranton. Prior to retirement, he worked at Golo Footwear in Dunmore for 28 years and McKinney Manufacturing in Scranton for 20 years.
An avid singer, he was a 50 year member of the Scranton Barbershoppers, Gospel 8 Quartet, and the Friendly City 4 Quartet. Also, he was a Lionel train enthusiast and diehard Penn State Football Fan. He also enjoyed fishing.
Also surviving are his daughter Charline Demuysere of Newfoundland; son Scott Smith and his wife Sherry of Dalton; brother Warren Smith and his wife Ann of Clarks Summit; grandchildren Sierra and Victoria; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother Leslie Smith.
A Funeral Service will take place on Friday, July 24th at 10:00am in the Vanston and James Funeral Home, 1401 Ash St. Scranton, Pa.
Friends may call on Thursday, July 23rd from 4:00pm - 7:00pm in the Funeral Home.
Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst Twp.
