Obituary

Robert Raymond Bowen Jr., 72, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, and friend, passed away on October 17, 2026. Born on January 3, 1954, in Cortland, New York, Bob grew up in Maine, New York, and graduated from Maine-Endwell High School in 1973. During his senior year, he wore number 22 as a dedicated member of the Maine-Endwell Spartans football team.

Bob honorably served his country in the United States Army, attaining the rank of E-7. His military career took him to many places, including Germany, Korea, and Michigan. His years of service were among his greatest accomplishments and helped shape the man he became. His unwavering dedication to his country and the moral fortitude he carried as a retired Army veteran remained defining parts of his character throughout his life.

Bob had a passion for fishing, Star Wars, Star Trek, a good cup of coffee, and, above all, having a good time. Known for his quick wit, sarcastic sense of humor, and infectious laughter, Bob was truly the life of the party. Whether sharing stories, cracking jokes, or simply enjoying the company of family and friends, he had a way of making every gathering memorable. Beneath that playful sarcasm was an incredibly affectionate man who never hesitated to show his love. Bob was always ready with a warm hug, making sure those around him knew just how much they meant to him.

Above all, Bob cherished his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Janet Bowen; his sons, Eric Watton (Melissa Watton), Chad Watton (Vanessa Watton), Kory Watton, Robert Bowen III, Shane Watton, (Kristine Barnhart), and David Bowen; his daughters, Christina Broderick (Ace Broderick Sr.) and Rae Ann Wiard (Roger Wiard Jr.); and his bonus daughters, Burnadette Straub and Gabby Straub.

He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Cody, Alex, Tika, Ace, Zakary, Roger, Autumn, Mackenzie, Logan, Davin, Landre, Bradley, Cayden, Ava, Everett, Briana, Ashlynn, Kailee, Khloe, Minda, and Gabriel, along with nine great-grandchildren.

Bob is also survived by his mother, Julia Holden; his siblings, Morris Bowen, Mertie Pozzi, Julie Kenyon (Chuck Kenyon), Rebecca Fleming (James Fleming), Eric Holden, Tiffany Holden, and Ashley Holden; his brother-in-law, Ray Rudolph; and many extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Bowen Sr.; his stepfather, Ray F. Holden; his sister, Sue Rudolph; his brother-in-law, Christopher Pozzi; and his granddaughter, Melody Broderick.

Bob will be remembered not only for his honorable military service and devotion to his family, but also for the laughter he brought into every room, the hugs he gave so freely, and the countless memories he created with those he loved. His humor, warmth, and larger-than-life personality left an impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

While his absence will be deeply felt, his spirit will live on in every shared story, every burst of laughter, and every warm embrace.

A celebration of Bob's life will be held at a later date, when family and friends will gather to honor his memory and celebrate a life filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments.
