Robert E. Merring, Hamlin, died early Saturday in the Julia Ribaudo Extended Care Center after an illness.

Born in Hamlin, he was the son of the late Harry and Alice Bortree Merring.  He was a member of the Canaan Bible Chapel and prior to his retirement he had been employed at the Tobyhanna Army Depot in the Finance and Accounting Office.

Surviving are nieces and nephews; friends.

He was preceded in death by a brother Gordon T. Merring.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 10am in the Salem Cemetery, Hamlin and will be officiated by Rev. Daniel Henwood, pastor of the Canaan Bible Chapel.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Canaan Bible Chapel 30 Hemlock Rd. Lake Ariel

Arrangements have been entrusted to and are under the care and direction of the James Wilson Funeral Home, Lake Ariel.
