Roger R. Reed

Roger R. Reed, 98, Lake Ariel, died Saturday in the Julia Ribaudo Extended Care Center after an illness.  His first wife was the former Janet Benjamin who died in 1976 and his second wife was the former Marcelain Hemmler who died in 2004.

Born 1919 in Honesdale, he was the son of the late Walter and Blanche Swingle Reed.  He was a graduate of  the Lake Consolidated School.  He attended the Hollisterville Bible Church.   Roger was a United States Navy veteran serving during World War II.  Prior to his retirement he had been employed as a welder, a trade he learned while in the Navy.

Surviving are cousins; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by brothers Hartford, Ronald, Eugene and Alvin Reed; a sister Rebah Enslin

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11am in the James Wilson Funeral Home 143 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel with services by Rev. Daniel Istvanik.

Friends may call Saturday morning from 10am until the time of service.

Military honors will be rendered at the funeral home.

Interment, private in Hollisterville Cemetery.
