Rev. Ronald W. Onder

Rev. Ronald W. Onder, Jessup, died late Saturday at home after a long illness.  His wife of 43 years is the former Cynthia Lonoconus.

Born 1952 in West Hazleton, he was the son of the late Andrew and Kathryn Dorneman Onder.   Ron was a 1969 graduate of the West Hazelton High School.  He went on to earn an Associate’s degree from Concordia College, Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia Senior College and a Master of Divinity Degree from the Christ Seminary Seminex.  Ron’s first charge was in West Upton, New York followed by charges in Unadilla, New York and the Central United Methodist Church in Endicott, New York among other charges with seventeen years as pastor of the Lake Ariel and Centenary United Methodist Churches being the most blessed and joyous of his career.

Also surviving are his children Ryan Onder and his wife Christine of Jessup, Jayne Onder and her companion Paul Leonardo of Lake Ariel and Marc Onder and his wife Jordan of Lewisville, TX; brothers Andrew Onder and his wife Betty of Hazle Township and Robert Onder and his wife Pat of Hazelton;  a sister Nancy Trovitch and her husband David of West Hazleton;  six grandchildren Gabriel and Alexander Argall, Victoria, Leah, Claire and Matthew Onder; his aunt and god mother Alma Yale of Hazleton; a brother in law Dr. Alan Lonoconus and his wife Roxanne; a  sister in law Diane Lindeman and her husband Thomas; his mother in law Alma Launikonis;  nieces and nephews; cousins.

He was also preceded in death by his father in law Albert J.  Launikonis and his brother in law Barry J. Lonoconus.

Friends may call Wednesday from 4-7pm in the James Wilson Funeral Home 143 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel.

Funeral services and interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
