Roy Paul Maskarinetz of Newfoundland, formerly of Colonia, NJ died Wednesday morning at Commonwealth Hospice at Regional Hospital of Scranton following an illness. He was the devoted husband of the former Winifred Medalis.

Born in Newark, NJ, son of the late Anne Maskarinetz, he was a graduate of Woodbridge High School and was a member of St. Rita’s Church, Gouldsboro. He enlisted in the Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a 25 years veteran of the Woodbridge Police Department and retired as a detective in 1983 where he was also the past P.B.A. President of the Woodbridge Police Local 38. He co-owned Ron Roy Construction Company and worked at Abbe Lumber in Avenel, NJ. He returned to work at Woodbridge Police Department as a 911 tele-communicator. He was a troop leader for Boy Scouts Troop 30 in Colonia, NJ.

He was an avid hunter and enjoyed wood working.

Also surviving are a son David William and his wife Barbra of Harmony, NJ and a daughter Amy Lynn Maskarinetz and her husband Michel Ng of Woodbridge, NJ.

He was preceded in death by a son Kevin Richard.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11:00am in St. Rita’s Church 512 Main St. Gouldsboro.

Friends may call Friday from 5:00-8:00pm in the James Wilson Funeral Home 143 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel.

Interment, St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow.
