Russell L. Shaffer

Russell L. Shaffer, 89 of Lake Ariel, passed away Thursday morning at home following an illness. His loving wife of 54 years is the former Elizabeth Thomas – Shaffer.

Born in South Canaan, he was the son of the late Loren and Rena Keil – Shaffer. He attended Lake Consolidated School. Prior to retirement he owned and operated Shaffer’s Excavating and was also employed by Lake Township. He was a United States Army Veteran.

He enjoyed attending tractor shows and showing his collections.

Also surviving are a daughter Bonnie Engle and her husband Larry of Newville, Pa; sons Thomas R. Shamon and his wife Gina of Rochester, NY, and Richard E. Shamon and his wife Maria of Jessup; 5 grandchildren; 1 great – grandchild; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by daughters Kimberly Shaffer and Deborah Shamon ; Brother Ronald, Gerald, and James Shaffer.

Friends may call on Saturday from 10am – Noon at the James Wilson Funeral Home, 143 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel
