Ruth E. Ware, of West Scranton, passed away the evening of January 22, 2026 at St. Mary's Villa Nursing Home, surrounded by her family. She was the widow of John "Jack" Ware who had died on August 25, 2022.
Ruth was born on June 29, 1942 in Moosic, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of the late Beatrice Tucker Frost. Ruth graduated from Moosic High School and preceded to work at Hillcrest Lamp Shades. Later, she worked for the JCPenny shoe department and various Scranton School District elementary schools. Being a "lunch lady" lead her to the true calling of working as a nanny. Over the next few decades, she lovingly raised children for multiple families. In this role, she touched many lives and left a deep and lasting impression on all.
Ruth was a kindhearted and generous woman. She loved her family dearly and took wonderful care of all of them. She will be deeply missed.
Surviving are her son Jack Ware and his wife Kimberly from Clifton Township. Also surviving are four grandsons and their significant others; Justin Ware, his fiance, Kristi Gorzkowski and her two children, Jase and Brynlee; Matthew Ware and girlfriend Kelly Simmons; Calum Ware and girlfriend Aurora Kelly and Jake Ware. Surviving brothers- in-law are Art, Jim, Tom and Michael Ware and their families. Also surviving are the children of Ruth's brother, the late John Frost.
The family would like to sincerely thank everyone at St Mary's Villa for the compassionate and dedicated care they provided for Ruth during her stay.
She was preceded in death by her brother John Frost, his wife Helen and daughter, Lisa; brothers-in-law, Bobby Ware and Butch Ware.
Ruth will be laid to rest in Marcy Cemetery, Duryea alongside her mother, Beatrice and grandmother, Sabina.
Out of respect for Ruth's final wishes, services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
