Thomas J. McHugh, Sr., of Pocono Summit and formerly of Lake Ariel, passed away Monday, May 23 rd at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Pocono. His wife of 37 ½ years, the former Barbara Rickley passed away in 2008.
Born in Morristown, NJ, he was the son of the late Thomas D. and Jean Marie Surace – McHugh. He was a graduate of Morristown High School and was a member of the St. Thomas More / St. Mary’s Parish Community. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and was dedicated to his faith. For many years, Tom owned and operated Suburban Express Moving Company in Morristown, NJ. Prior to retirement, he had been employed by H. John Davis Heating Company in Mt. Pocono.
He was a loving husband, father, best friend, grandfather, and family man.
Surviving are sons Thomas J. McHugh, Jr. and his wife Lauren of Forest Hill, MD. and Robert D. McHugh and his wife Joanna of Pocono Summit; grandchildren T.J., Mary Beth, Bobbie, Jena, and Ian; nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, May 26 th at 10:00am in St. Mary’s Cemetery, 334 St. Mary Church Rd. Lake Ariel, Pa with services by Rev. Stephen Stavoy, Pastor.
Friends may call on Wednesday, May 25 th from 4:00pm to 6:00pm in the James Wilson Funeral Home, 143 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel, Pa.
