Obituary

Timothy “Tim” Somers, of Harding, PA, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on August 3, 2026. He was 62 years old.

Born in Scranton in 1964, Tim was the youngest of nine children born to Charles and Nancy Somers. He graduated from Scranton Central High School with the Class of 1982, and Lackawanna Junior College and spent his career caring for others. He worked as a transporter at Mercy Hospital, and most recently at the VA Hospital, where his compassion, kindness, easygoing nature and humor made a lasting impression on both patients and coworkers.

Tim never met a stranger. He had the rare gift of making people feel like old friends within minutes of meeting them. Chances were, if you crossed paths with Tim, you would soon find yourself drawn into a conversation, sharing a laugh, and enjoying his larger-than-life personality and unmistakable sense of humor.

He had a tradition that many children looked forward to, quietly slipping them a gold dollar whenever he saw them. He also had an incredible memory for birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, and life’s milestones. No matter how busy life became, Tim made sure the people he loved knew they were remembered.

Tim was a devoted fan of the Oakland Raiders. He also enjoyed the friendships he built over many years as a dedicated member of the Moose Lodge.

Above all else, Tim treasured the people in his life. He was a proud father to his sons, celebrated their accomplishments, and was always there to support them. He shared many happy years with the love of his life and longtime partner, Michele Kreidler Talerico of Moosic, whose unwavering love and companionship brought him great happiness. Together they built a life filled with laughter and countless memories.

Tim is survived by his sons, Timothy Somers II and Nathan Somers, both of Harding; his partner, Michele Kreidler Talerico of Moosic; his sisters, Suzanne Somers and her partner, Janice Phillips, of Dallas, and Judy Santoski of Scranton; his brother, Ed Somers and his wife, Lisa, of Archbald; his brother-in-law, Joseph Running, Fayetteville, NC, the extended Kreidler and Talerico families, as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss him greatly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Nancy Somers; his daughter, Marie Somers, his siblings, Jerry Somers, Dennis Somers, Alicia Somers, Beth Somers, and Maureen Running; his brother-in-law, Paul Santoski; and his niece, Abby Somers.

Tim will be remembered for his generous heart, his unwavering loyalty to those he loved, his unforgettable conversations, and the way he could make anyone feel welcome.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
