Verena Elisabeth Schelling

On April 3rd, Verena Elisabeth Schelling 83, of Lake Ariel, passed away peacefully with her family by her side following a lengthy illness.
Born in Stein am Rhein, Switzerland in 1941, she was the 2nd child of Hans and Rosali Schelling.

She was an independent adventurer who enjoyed traveling and seeing new places. After graduating from culinary school, she worked in various hotels and restaurants in Switzerland. In her late 20’s she moved to the United States to begin a new adventure. Verena would go on to live and work in Washington D.C. and New York. Eventually Verena moved to Pennsylvania with her son Peter-Daniel. Upon retirement, Verena enjoyed helping in her church and volunteering with Ledgedale Fire Co. Ladies Auxillary.

She was an excellent baker known for her delicious treats.

By far Verena’s greatest pride and joy was her family. She poured her heart and time into her four grandchildren- Grace, Hannah, Daniel, and Elijah. She was affectionately referred to as Nana by all of our family and friends and her smile and love will be missed by all.

She is survived by her son Peter-Daniel and his wife Stephanie, their four children Grace, Hannah, Daniel, and Elijah; her younger sister Doris Geier of Switzerland; nephews Andreas, Manuel, and Lukas all of Switzerland.

She was preceded in death by her brother HansPeter Schelling.

Verena’s services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
