William (Bill) Gerard Ackerson, age 74 of Milford, PA, passed away on April 2, 2026 at Regional Hospital in Scranton, PA.
Bill was born in Newark, NJ, on January 7, 1952. He was the son of the late William and Amalia (Lorenzetti) Ackerson. Bill was educated at Raritan High School in Raritan, 'N.J. He was a self-employed operator and salesman of Ackerson Tool and Die in Milford, PA.
From early youth, Bill had a keen interest in speed and machines, owning a fast boat in early youth and then transitioning at age 17 to the world of American muscle cars. His beloved 1969 Camaro SS, with which he competed in Englishtown, NJ, proudly displayed the name "Instant Insanity" on each side and the phrase "Until We Meet Again" on the rear. Bill also enjoyed construction and self-built several of his homes in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. For many years, he also took part in the decoration and lighting of Christmas Trees in the town of Milford with the Lions Club for all to enjoy. He was a lifelong member of the New Jersey Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #53 and also a member of the National Rifle Association.
Bill is survived by three daughters: Tina (Steven) Montanino of Neptune City, NJ, Jada Nugent of South Canaan, PA, and Kari Murante of Shohola, PA, one sister:
Amalia (Gene) Lyle, of Honesdale, PA, Seven grandchildren: Cort, Justin and Olivia Montanino, of Neptune City, NJ and Laynee, Weston and Linden Nugent of South Canaan, PA and their father Matt Nugent, Monet Murante of Shohola, PA and a Nephew Brad Lyle of Jefferson Twp, PA.
Bill's Interment will be conducted privately at the Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, NJ.
Arrangements have been entrusted to and are under the care and direction of the James H. Wilson Funeral Home, Lake Ariel.
